Steve is a writer and director based in Australia. He was an Oxbelly 2024 Episodic Writer’s program fellow, and a participant of the inaugural 2024 Black List Projects Lab.

His short film VOICE ACTIVATED premiered at the Sydney Film Festival and was an official selection of the 2023 Tribeca Festival. It won 12 awards at festivals, including 4 audience choice awards and won Best Short Production at the 2023 Screen Producers Australia Awards.

In 2022 he wrote and directed MY SUMMER IN THE HUMAN RESISTANCE, a proof of concept short made through The Black List / Hornitos ‘Take Your Shot’ initiative and premiering at the 2023 Iris Prize LGBTQ+ Festival. The feature screenplay was featured by The Black List in Feb 2024 and won the grand prize at Final Draft Big Break.

His Youtube series WINGMAN was named “one of the best web series to come out of Australia this year” by SBS Comedy. He’s directed ads for Ausfilm, Netflix and Staples, and loves comedies that find a way to be both fun and meaningful.

Steve’s most important cultural contribution is the Tumblr account Animals Sitting on Capybaras, which the Smithsonian Magazine called “very important.”
